Mercedes-Benz will launch a new long-wheelbase variant of the E-Class sedan in India on October 9, 2024. The launch of the E-Class in India comes more than a year after its global debut. Like its previous model, the new-generation E-Class sedan will be offered solely in its long wheelbase body style. The new E-Class will feature an all-new design, with new headlamps that feature fresh-looking DRLs. The front now features a larger grille that gives it a more imposing look than its predecessor. The design of the new E-Class is similar to the current model, although the prominent ridges of the current model have been softened in some parts. At the rear, it gets a new set of tail lamps, similar to the company’s new models.
The new E-Class LWB measures 5,092 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width and 1,493 mm in height, making it 18 mm longer and 20 mm wider than the current model. Of the 18 mm increase in length, 15 mm has gone into increasing the wheelbase, which is now 3,094 mm.
Talking about the cabin, the most expensive model of the E-Class LWB will get the MBUX Superscreen. The Superscreen has three connected screens under a single full glass panel on the dashboard. It includes a digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment touchscreen and a dedicated display for the co-passenger. Other features on offer include power-adjustable rear seats, 4-zone climate control a panoramic sunroof, motorised rear sunblinds, a 730W Burmester 4D sound system and 64-colour ambient lighting.
Talking about the powertrain, Mercedes has confirmed that the new E-Class will come with a pair of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine is a 2.0-litre engine that produces around 195 bhp of power, while the diesel is a 2.0-litre engine that produces around 200 bhp of power. A 9-speed automatic gearbox will be offered as standard.
Prices for the new E-Class are expected to start around Rs. 80 lakh (ex-showroom).
